India’s National Telemedicine Service, e-Sanjeevani, has crossed 50 crore (500 million) teleconsultations, covering all 36 States and Union Territories, with 2.5–3 lakh consultations daily in 15 languages. PM Narendra Modi highlighted the platform in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address, sharing success stories from remote areas: a child from the Jarawa tribe in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands was diagnosed with pneumonia through remote consultation; Kunhi Koya (60) in Lakshadweep received expert guidance; and pregnant Kunjang Dolma in Zanskar, Ladakh, received specialist assistance during complications.

Developed by C-DAC Mohali under the health ministry, the platform records 57.1% utilisation by women and 40.1% by people aged 46 and above. PM Narendra Modi credited its reach to the dedication of doctors, public trust and the effective use of technology. He also highlighted nearly 1.9 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, which are evolving into wellness centres at the village level, with regular health check-ups becoming more common in rural areas and e-Sanjeevani playing an important role.
